Who we can support at Pickworths Residential Living Service; A collaborative approach with commissioners.
We want to ensure that everyone who moves into Pickworths Residential Living Service is appropriately placed, for the benefit of the person and the service. To help we have developed a brief guide of the type of people that we are equipped to support within our service, and those we unfortunately cannot.
Who we can support
- We can support adults over the age of 18 upwards, both male and female
- We can support people who have a mild diagnosis of a learning disability.
- We can support people who have a dual diagnosis/co-morbidity such as a learning disability and mental illness, or a learning disability and autism.
- We can support people who have been detained previously under the Mental Health Act and or subject to Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS)
- We can support people who are subject to a Community Treatment Order (and do not require ongoing supervision from a qualified nurse)
- We can support people who present with risky behaviours including unintentional self-neglect, exploitation, and behaviours of concern
- We can support people who need support with their medication and need this administered
- We can support people whose capacity fluctuates therefore requires dynamic provision of care and support
Who we cannot safely support
- We cannot support people who do not have a learning disability
- We cannot support people with a moderate to severe learning disability
- We cannot support people with a severe sensory impairment who require a specialist sensory service
- We cannot support people who require moving and handling (such as use of a hoist)
Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, and we would urge anyone who wishes to make a referral contact us for an informal discussion.
